‘I Am Not Afghan’ Campaign Launched After Deadly Attack in Washington, D.C.
Following a deadly incident in Washington, D.C., a large number of Afghan residents in the United States have launched a new online campaign called “I Am Not Afghan.” The campaign has gained widespread attention on social media in recent days.
The campaign was initiated after a Pashtun Afghan refugee attacked two U.S. National Guard soldiers, resulting in the death of one soldier and injury to the other.
Supporters of the campaign state that they do not want the criminal actions of an individual or one ethnic group to be attributed to all Afghan migrants in the United States. They also emphasize that many participants view the label “Afghan” as a political and imposed identity, preferring instead to identify themselves by their specific ethnic heritage.
