Afghanistan Freedom Front: Taliban Morality Officials Killed and Wounded in Faryab; Taliban Confirms Attack.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has announced an attack on the building of the Taliban’s Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Maimana, the capital of Faryab province.
According to the group, the operation was planned to coincide with the exit of the department’s officials, resulting in two Taliban members being killed and two others wounded. The Front for Freedom stated that none of its fighters were harmed and that the fate of the department’s head remains unknown.
Meanwhile, the Taliban confirmed the attack through statements by the department’s spokesperson, Saif-ur-Islam Khyber, who said an assailant attempted to enter the building but was “neutralized” before reaching the target.
Khyber did not provide further details on the attacker’s identity or how the attack was prevented. Local sources in Faryab also confirmed an explosion occurred at the entrance of the department on Sunday evening, just a few meters from the group’s primary security zone.
