Taliban Ban the Sale of Condoms and Other Sexual Health Products in Kabul.
The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has ordered all pharmacies in Kabul to refrain from selling condoms and certain sexual health-related medicines.
Pharmacy owners reported that ministry officials warned them during market patrols that selling these products is “prohibited” and claimed that such items contribute to social immorality. Some sellers stated that they have legally sold these products for years, with most customers being married individuals seeking them for family health needs.
However, the recent Taliban warnings have caused concern and limited pharmacy operations. According to the sellers, the Taliban authorities have warned that pharmacies could be closed if these items are sold again. Taliban officials have not provided further explanation on the matter.
