Taliban’s Secret Operations: Exploiting Social Media to Identify Opponents.
Confirmed reports indicate that tens of millions of Afghanis have been allocated to the Taliban’s “030 Directorate,” an intelligence branch. Sources say the funds are used to advance intelligence programs, target individuals, and expand infiltration networks.
Hafiz Hayatullah Zaker, known as “Shah Sahib Mubarak,” the deputy of the 030 Directorate (GDI), plays a central role in these operations.
He and his colleagues have created dozens of fake accounts on X (formerly Twitter), using names of former U.S. military personnel and ex-members of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) to communicate with targets.
Sources report that some individuals targeted are initially lured with payments of $500–$1,000 to gain their trust. In a subsequent operation, these individuals are detained, tortured, and used to identify, locate, and expose others.
