A Scene Undermining Taliban’s Dignity: Protection During Foreigners’ Personal Needs.
A Taliban member publicly criticized the double standards of some Taliban forces toward domestic citizens and foreign nationals.
Mohammad Tayeb Warduji, a close associate of Amanuddin Mansoor, the newly appointed governor of Helmand, wrote that some armed Taliban members, using the same weapons employed to intimidate locals, treat certain foreign nationals with excessive respect.
Warduji specifically criticized scenes where Taliban forces, acting as bodyguards, stand alongside wealthy foreign investors—particularly Chinese citizens—even while the foreigners attend to personal needs in public.
He described this conduct as “pride in front of the people, humility for money,” contradicting the Taliban leadership’s claims about justice and independence. These statements have sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users seeing them as revealing the gap between the Taliban’s rhetoric and actions.
