Russia Calls on Taliban at the UN Security Council to Form an Inclusive Government.
Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations called on the Taliban to establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan during a Security Council meeting.
He stressed that political inclusivity is essential for long-term stability and for enabling genuine participation of all ethnic groups and communities.
The Russian representative said his country is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of respecting the fundamental rights of all Afghans.
He added that improving the human rights situation is an indispensable component of achieving stability and international trust.
His remarks came as Western countries have made women’s rights including lifting restrictions on education and employment central to their engagement with the Taliban.
The ambassador’s comments indirectly referenced these conditions and underscored that human rights remain a central issue in global discussions on Afghanistan.
This comes at a time when Russia has become the first country to formally recognize the Taliban and maintains warm relations with the group.
