National Resistance Front Claims Taliban Casualties in Fayzabad Attack.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed responsibility for an attack on Taliban forces in Badakhshan province, stating that it inflicted casualties.
According to a video and statement released by the group, the attack took place at around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 13 December 2025, targeting a Taliban reserve unit near the Badakhshan provincial governor’s office in Fayzabad.
The statement said the operation was carried out in a guerrilla-style assault, resulting in the deaths of three Taliban members and injuries to one other.
The group claimed that the targeted unit has repeatedly been used by the Taliban to suppress public protests, instill fear, and consolidate what it described as their imposed rule. The Freedom Front also stated that none of its fighters were harmed in the attack.
So far, the Taliban have not commented on the incident or the reported casualties. This comes amid growing reports of increased attacks by anti-Taliban groups in northern provinces of Afghanistan, highlighting a deterioration in security and persistent challenges to stability in the region.
