Local sources in Jurm district of Badakhshan province report that on the morning of Sunday, December 21, 2025, Mawlawi Mahboob Hamed, the Taliban’s deputy governor of Ghor province, opened fire on two residents belonging to the Ismaili community in the district.

As a result of the incident, one person was killed and another was seriously injured.

The victim has been identified as Aman, son of Kharkash, a resident of Iskan village in the Khastak area of Jurm district. Sources say he was affiliated with the Taliban and linked to the group of Mawlawi Amanuddin Mansoor, the Taliban governor of Helmand province.

According to local sources, the shooting was triggered by a dispute between Mawlawi Mahboob Hamed and Mawlawi Amanuddin Mansoor over control of a gold mine. The confrontation between the two Taliban factions reportedly resulted in casualties on both sides.
