Taliban Raid Home of Former Afghan Military Officer in Kandahar.
Local sources in Kandahar province report that Taliban members raided the home of a former Afghan military officer and subjected him to severe torture and beatings.
According to these sources, the incident occurred in Panjwayi district, and the victim has been identified as Mohammad Ismail, a former military commander during the Republican era. The incident was confirmed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Based on available information, Mohammad Ismail returned from Iran to his home about a month earlier under a so-called “general amnesty,” reportedly guaranteed by a local Taliban member.
However, a few days later, Taliban forces stormed his house and beat him to the brink of death. Sources say that following the intervention of neighbors and local elders, Taliban members abandoned him in a semi-conscious state outside his home.
Sources further report that Taliban members looted valuable household items and approximately 300,000 Afghanis in cash from his residence.
Mohammad Ismail’s relatives describe his physical condition as critical and express deep concern about his future. The Taliban have not commented on the incident. Local residents view such cases as clear violations of the Taliban’s declared “general amnesty” and as evidence of continued violence against former military personnel.
