Former Afghan Soldier Deported from Iran Shot Dead by Taliban in Faryab.

Local sources in Faryab province report that a former Afghan security force member was killed by a Taliban member after recently being deported from Iran.

According to the sources, the incident occurred on Friday, December 26, 2025. The victim was identified as Jura Qul, a former member of Afghanistan’s security forces.

Reports indicate that Jura Qul was shot dead in public at the Koliyan market.

Local sources say the shooting was carried out by Tayeb, known as Sedaqat, the commander of the Taliban’s Fourth Border Battalion in Khamiab district of Jowzjan province.

Jura Qul was reportedly a native of Koliyan village in Belcheragh district of Faryab.

The incident comes amid growing concern over the treatment of former Afghan security personnel under Taliban rule.

Since the Taliban returned to power, numerous cases of arrest, torture, and killings of former security force members have been reported across the country. Media reports indicate that more than 110 former Afghan soldiers were killed between 2023 and mid 2025, prompting serious concern among human rights organizations.
