Local sources and media reports indicate that the Taliban, having access to a database of former Afghan military personnel, are systematically identifying, arresting, and interrogating former soldiers who have been expelled from Iran.

According to these reports, the Taliban are primarily focusing on trained military personnel, especially commandos and former members of Afghanistan’s security and defense institutions, who face pursuit either at border crossings or within cities upon their forced return to Afghanistan.

Sources state that the Taliban use tools such as fingerprint scanners at border checkpoints between Afghanistan and Iran to identify former military personnel. Once identified, individuals are either arrested or transferred for interrogation.

In cases where identification at the border is not possible due to congestion, these individuals are subsequently located and pursued in cities and provinces.

Within this context, local sources reported the arrest of several former military personnel. Among them is Azimullah, a former commando of the Afghan army, who was detained by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul on Saturday, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.

Additionally, Shirin Del Shida, another former military officer, was reportedly arrested approximately ten days ago at the Pul-e-Alishir border crossing in Nimroz province after being expelled from Iran.

The former Afghan commando forces were among the most elite combat units of the previous government due to their specialized training under the U.S. and NATO standards.
