Taliban Detain Former Military Personnel in Bamyan.
Local sources in Bamyan province report that the Taliban have increased the detention of civilians, particularly former military personnel, under the pretext of combating armed thieves.
Former security and defense personnel, now engaged in simple jobs such as farming or small businesses, are typically the first to be detained following any incident.
According to the sources, the new Taliban governor in Bamyan, in coordination with Mawlavi Sher Ali, the security chief of the provincial Taliban command and a member of the Haqqani network, has planned to detain more individuals in the coming days.
Reports also indicate severe tensions among Taliban leaders in the province; the relationship between Mawlavi Shakir, the Taliban police commander, and the deputy security officer of the provincial command, who is affiliated with the Haqqani network, has deteriorated significantly.
Earlier reports had also highlighted internal disputes within Taliban groups in Bamyan.
Local sources emphasize that since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, former military personnel have continually faced detention, torture, and threats, and the continuation of such actions raises serious concerns about the safety and security of citizens.
