Tragic Death of Four Young Students in Daikundi.

Four young students died in Nili city, the capital of Daikundi province, due to carbon monoxide poisoning from charcoal.

The incident occurred on (24 January 2026). The victims were aged between 16 and 19.

They were students of educational courses preparing for the Kankor university entrance exam.

According to initial information, the bodies were transferred to Nili Provincial Hospital at around 4:00 p.m. on the day of the incident.

After medical examinations by health teams and forensic officials from the Public Health Department, carbon monoxide poisoning from charcoal smoke was confirmed as the cause of death.

Officials said the incident occurred inside a residential room in the second district of Nili city.

The Daikundi Provincial Public Health Department expressed deep regret over the incident.

It urged citizens to strictly observe safety measures and proper ventilation when using charcoal and heating devices during winter.

The Taliban police command in Daikundi also confirmed the incident.

It said the victims were staying at the location to continue their studies and attend Kankor preparation courses.
