Sources close to Abdul Hamid Khorasani, a discontented Taliban commander, report escalating disputes and serious tensions between him and influential Taliban officials.
According to these sources, Khorasani’s disagreements with senior figures in the Taliban intelligence apparatus, particularly Qari Yasser, head of Intelligence Directorate 90, and Tajmir Jawad, deputy operations chief, have entered a worrying phase in recent days, showing signs of direct confrontation within the Taliban.
Reports indicate that Intelligence Directorate 90 has warned Khorasani that continued critical statements or positions may result in “military action.” Sources describe these warnings as part of ongoing pressure and threats previously applied to him. Simultaneously, reports of the arrest, disarmament, and detention of several of Khorasani’s close guards have emerged, interpreted as efforts by Taliban intelligence to constrain and pressure him.
Conversely, sources close to Khorasani say that he has warned the Taliban that any military action or suppression will be met with “defense” by him and his forces. This stance has reportedly angered Taliban intelligence officials and raised the threat level against Khorasani and his allies to the highest point, a situation that observers believe significantly increases the risk of armed clashes among Taliban forces if tensions continue.
