Mysterious Killing of a Taliban Soldier in Faizabad and Visit by Deputy Governor of Badakhshan.
Mullah Jamaluddin “Haqqju,” Deputy Governor of Badakhshan, visited the provincial hospital in Faizabad and met with the family of a slain Taliban member, promising that the local government would seriously investigate the incident.
This statement followed the shooting of a Taliban member named Shahram, a soldier of the border battalion and resident of Tirgaran village, Jurm District, who was killed on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Local sources stated that the assailants fled the scene after the shooting and took the Taliban member’s weapon with them. So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility, and Taliban officials have not released further details beyond the promise of an investigation.
The incident occurred in the provincial center under circumstances where the Taliban claim to maintain full control over security.
