New Wave of Youth Suppression in Parwan; Two Young Men Detained After Expulsion from Iran.

Two young men recently expelled from Iran were detained by Taliban intelligence in Jabal-us-Saraj District, Parwan Province, raising renewed concern over the fate of returning migrants.

Local sources said the two men, Peyman and Romel, residents of Dehno village in Gulbahar, were taken from their homes on the afternoon of Thursday, February 12, 2026 .

They had only recently been deported from Iran. No official reason has been provided for their detention, and local Taliban officials have remained silent.

Local reports indicate that in recent months, detentions of youth returning from Iran have become a worrying trend.

Sources stress that these individuals are subjected to harsh interrogations at intelligence centers, and in many cases, tortured.

If the detainees have a background in the former government’s security forces, the situation is significantly more dangerous; in some cases, bodies have been returned to families, while others disappear for weeks or months without clear explanation from the Taliban.

The Gulbahar area lies at the intersection of Parwan, Kapisa, and Panjshir provinces—regions that saw heavy fighting with resistance forces led by Ahmad Shah Massoud during the early Taliban rule.

Residents of these three provinces say current security measures stem from historical tensions, and their youth are detained and pressured under various pretexts, including alleged “collaboration with the resistance.”

The increasing detention of returning migrants has deepened fear and distrust, leaving many families in constant anxiety over the potential arrest, torture, or even death of their children.
