The Taliban Supreme Court announced that Wednesday, 18 February 2026, will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in the country.

According to the statement, in the provinces of Parwan, Kandahar, Helmand, and Zabul, several citizens reported sighting the Ramadan crescent and submitted their testimony to Sharia courts.

After carefully reviewing reports received from provinces and districts on Tuesday evening, the Moon Sighting Committee confirmed the sighting and officially declared Wednesday as the first day of the blessed month.

With the beginning of Ramadan, Muslims across Afghanistan, as in previous years, will observe fasting, engage in (worship), offer (prayers), and assist those in need.

The Supreme Court called on citizens to observe religious rulings, strengthen solidarity, and extend support to the needy so as to benefit from the spiritual virtues of this holy month.
