The Washington Post Reveals U.S. Military Posture in the Region.
The newspaper The Washington Post has reported that the United States, concurrent with Israel’s strike on Iran, deployed more than ten warships to the region and established an extensive naval formation.
According to a U.S. Navy official, the destroyers USS Michael Murphy and USS Mitscher were stationed near the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by the littoral combat ships USS Canberra and USS Santa Barbara. This deployment continued through Friday.
The report further states that U.S. military presence in the Arabian Sea was significant. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was deployed alongside seven destroyers, including USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., USS Spruance, USS Delbert D. Black, USS John Finn, USS McFaul, USS Milius, and USS Pinckney.
In addition, the littoral combat ship USS Tulsa was present in the Arabian Sea, while the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, after departing the Caribbean Sea, arrived in the region to support ongoing operations.
A U.S. official stated that the strike was conducted jointly by naval and air forces, with part of the munitions launched from warships.
Moreover, personnel from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Space units participated in the operation.
These developments followed remarks made one day earlier, on Thursday, February 28, 2026, when Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of nuclear negotiations with Iran and emphasized that Washington would not accept any uranium enrichment inside Iran — a position previously rejected by Tehran.
