Local authorities in Minab County, Hormozgan Province, announced that the number of fatalities from the attack on Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School has risen to 40.

Mohammad Rademahr, governor of Minab, stated that 40 students were killed and 48 others injured in the incident. Officials said most of the wounded are elementary school students.

Earlier, the political, security, and social deputy of Hormozgan Province had indicated that approximately 170 students were present at the school during the morning shift on Saturday, March 2, 2026, raising the possibility of further casualties.

Local authorities described the incident as a “war crime against children” and called for a response from the international community and the United Nations Security Council.

Images released from the scene show extensive destruction to parts of the school building, while rescue operations and the transfer of the injured to medical centers remain ongoing.
