Mysterious Assassination of Taliban Intelligence Member in Badakhshan.
A member of the Taliban intelligence directorate in Badakhshan province has been killed in a mysterious attack by unidentified individuals.
A local source in the city of Faizabad said the incident occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m., in the Dasht-e Qargh area of the city.
According to the source, the victim was a member of the Taliban intelligence department in Badakhshan who was targeted in the attack. His body was later transferred to the provincial hospital in Faizabad. The source added that he personally saw the body of the slain intelligence member at the hospital.
So far, the identity of the victim and the perpetrators of the attack have not been officially announced.
At the same time, some observers say targeted attacks against Taliban forces in northern Afghanistan have increased significantly in recent months. According to them, a new wave of insecurity and assassinations appears to be emerging. The Taliban have not yet issued any official response regarding the incident or the reported casualties among their forces.
