Pakistan Issues Strong Warning to the Taliban: You Have Crossed a Red Line — Expect the Consequences.
Border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban have reportedly entered an unprecedented phase.
Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, strongly condemned drone strikes on what he described as the country’s “civilian areas,” warning that the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan had crossed a “red line” through such actions.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, he stressed that Pakistan would not tolerate any targeting of its citizens and would use all available options to defend its population.
The statement followed Taliban claims that a military facility known as “Hamza Camp,” located near Islamabad, had been targeted by a drone strike — an assertion that has not yet been independently verified.
At the same time, reports indicate an escalation of clashes along the border, with hundreds of rockets and artillery shells said to have been fired toward frontier areas within a short period.
These attacks have reportedly damaged residential homes and civilian installations, increasing fears of a broader expansion of the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani military announced that it had targeted the fuel storage facility at Kandahar Airport, describing the action as “preventive.”
Taliban officials, for their part, have claimed that in a retaliatory operation they seized a Pakistani military outpost and inflicted heavy casualties on its forces.
The continued exchange of rocket and artillery fire, as well as competing military claims, suggests that the security crisis along the border between the two sides has entered a dangerous and unpredictable phase.
