Pakistan’s airstrike in Kabul, which the Taliban claim targeted a drug treatment center and resulted in “hundreds” of deaths, has drawn widespread reactions from Afghan political figures.

Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, a prominent jihadi leader, described the bombing as “hostility toward the Afghan nation and humanity,” telling the Taliban that “if you had wisdom and maintained unity with your people, no one would have dared to disrespect this land.”

Meanwhile, former Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta called the attack an “act of aggression,” emphasizing that submission to it would constitute betrayal of the country, while resisting Pakistan does not imply alignment with the Taliban.

Abdullah Abdullah, former Chief Executive, also described the airstrike on a drug treatment center as “inhumane” and a violation of international law.

Former Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal characterized it as “brutal and indiscriminate,” warning of profound consequences for regional insecurity.

Shaharzad Akbar, former head of the Independent Human Rights Commission, described deliberate attacks on civilians as a “crime” and called for proper documentation and thorough investigation.

Former intelligence chief Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai stressed that repeated Pakistani attacks threaten Afghanistan’s security and the daily lives of its people.

In addition, Hanif Atmar, Sami Sadat, Rahmatullah Nabil, Hamid Karzai, Fazl Mahmood Fazli, Fawzia Koofi, and several other political figures have issued strong condemnations of the attack.
