Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan will temporarily halt its military operations “against terrorists and their support infrastructure in Afghanistan” on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
According to him, the decision was made in response to requests from several Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.
In an official statement, Pakistan’s Minister of Information said the suspension would last from midnight, March 18–19, 2026, until midnight, March 23–24, 2026, describing it as a gesture “of goodwill and within the framework of Islamic principles.”
However, he warned that in the event of any cross-border attack, drone strike, or terrorist incident inside Pakistan, the operation codenamed “Ghazab-ul-Haq” would immediately resume with greater intensity.
This decision comes amid rising tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban in recent weeks, with reports published about Pakistani airstrikes on several locations in Kabul.
Among these, the targeting of a drug rehabilitation hospital has been reported, with some accounts claiming approximately 650 killed and injured. Pakistan has denied the accusation, asserting that the fire at the facility was caused by Taliban forces.
