
Central Moon Sighting Committee Declares Thursday as First Day of Eid al-Fitr.
The Central Moon Sighting Committee announced that Thursday, March 19, 2026, corresponding to 28 Hoot 1404 (Solar Hijri) and 1 Shawwal 1447 (Lunar Hijri), will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
According to this official announcement, the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid celebrations in Afghanistan have been determined, and citizens may observe Eid rituals starting on this date.
The committee urged the public to observe religious and health guidelines during Eid practices, as in previous years.
Meanwhile, countries including Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, and Sudan have declared Friday, March 20, 2026, as the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
