Fasihuddin Fitrat: Pakistani Attacks Continue; A Decisive Response Will Follow.
Fasihuddin Fitrat, Chief of Staff of the Taliban army, accused the Pakistani military of violating the ceasefire in border areas.
In an Eid al-Fitr message, he stated that several civilians have been killed as a result of attacks by Pakistani forces in border areas.
He described the continuation of these attacks, despite a ceasefire agreement, as a sign of Pakistan’s “lack of commitment and deception,” adding that the Taliban have so far refrained from retaliatory measures to prevent further escalation and have remained committed to the ceasefire.
However, he warned that if such attacks are repeated, the ceasefire will become meaningless and the Taliban will deliver a “crushing response.”
This comes as the Taliban and Pakistan, through the mediation of Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, reached a temporary ceasefire agreement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
In contrast, the Pakistani military has conditioned any lasting dialogue on the handover of members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
So far, Pakistani officials have not responded to the claims made by the Taliban.
