Controversial Case in Faryab: Imam Accused of Killing Wife After Marrying 18-Year-Old Girl.

Local sources in Faryab say Mawlavi Jilan Haqqani, a mosque imam in Khwaja Namusa District, has been accused of killing his wife after divorcing his four wives on the same day and marrying an 18-year-old girl.

Sources claim the body of his 30-year-old wife was found inside his house two days ago, with signs of violence reported on her body.

According to local sources, the elderly imam had also been seeking to marry another 16-year-old girl, although another source said the marriage had not been finalized.

The sources claim Taliban authorities arrested Haqqani following a complaint from the victim’s family. He reportedly denied the accusation, claiming he was at the mosque when his wife died and that she had taken her own life.

Residents have rejected this explanation and claimed she died as a result of violence. The Taliban has not released an official statement regarding the investigation or the suspect’s status.
