Afghan Journalist: Taliban Has Infiltrated the Media, Women Have No Place Anymore.

On the second day of the Afghan People’s Court, a female journalist spoke of her bitter experience under the shadow of Taliban threats and violence.

She, who did not want to be named for security reasons, said on Thursday, October 7, that the Taliban had arrested her and her family while they were trying to leave Afghanistan through the Torkham border and severely beaten them.

The journalist stressed that since the Taliban returned to power, women have been virtually eliminated from the media, and the few who still work continue to work under pressure and in very difficult conditions.

“The Taliban have infiltrated many media outlets, and freedom of expression no longer means anything. Women journalists face insults, humiliation and threats on a daily basis,” she said.

According to her, dozens of media outlets have been closed in the past two years, and many journalists have been forced to flee the country.

The Afghan People’s Court in Spain has been held for three days with the aim of documenting human rights violations, especially against women.
