Afghanistan women’s football team returns to international competition.
After a four-year absence, the Afghan women’s football team is set to play its first official FIFA match in Morocco on October 26 2025.
According to FIFA, the competition will be held under the title “FIFA Unites; Women’s Competition Series”.
The event was moved from the United Arab Emirates to Morocco after Afghan players were unable to obtain visas from the UAE.
Teams from Chad and Libya are also participating in the competition.
After the Taliban took over in 1400, women in Afghanistan were banned from sporting activities, and many athletes, including members of the national women’s football team, sought refuge in other countries.
