After Pakistani airstrikes; A 48-hour ceasefire was announced between the Taliban and Islamabad.

The Pakistani government has announced that, at the request of the Taliban, a 48-hour ceasefire will be established between the forces of both sides along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border from 6 pm local time to pave the way for the start of direct talks.

In contrast, the Taliban say that the ceasefire began at 5:30 pm at the suggestion of Pakistan and that their forces are obliged to observe the ceasefire until they are targeted.

This decision was taken after Pakistani airstrikes on Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions in Kabul and Kandahar provinces.

Pakistani media reported that the operation targeted the TTP leadership center in Kabul and several Taliban military headquarters in Kandahar, and that a number of Taliban fighters were killed.

The Taliban have attributed the explosion in Kabul to a fuel tanker explosion, but have confirmed airstrikes in Kandahar, particularly in the Spin Boldak district, and said that several civilians were also killed in these incidents.
