Ambiguity over death of Afghan couple in Pakistan; Amirdad Jafari from Daikundi was killed.
An Afghan couple has died in the city of Rawalpindi, according to reports from Pakistan. Pakistani police described the incident as a case of “murder and suicide”.
Police said the man first killed his wife and then committed suicide. However, local witnesses have not corroborated the police narrative and the main motive of the incident remains unknown.
Local sources identified the man as Amirdad Jafari, a native of Daikundi province. According to sources, the couple had recently moved to Pakistan from Afghanistan and were living in a rented house.
They had a two-year-old child who is now an orphan. The bodies of the couple are being kept in a hospital in Rawalpindi, and a picture has been released to the media showing Amirdad Jafari hanging from a wall.
The incident comes as thousands of Afghans have been forced to flee their homes since the Taliban returned to power.
Unemployment, lack of residence documents, police pressure from host countries and misery in neighboring countries have led to an increase in violence and suicide among Afghan migrants;
This phenomenon has raised serious concerns about the humanitarian situation of migrants.
