The Afghan Journalists Center has called for the immediate release of Sulaiman Rahel, the director of Khoshal Radio in Ghazni. According to the organization, the Taliban arrested him four days ago without providing any reason.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter. Last year, the former director of the radio station, Hekmat Arian, was also arrested for a month.
In a similar incident, three other journalists were arrested in Takhar last week on charges of collaborating with exiled media outlets.
According to reports, around 14 journalists are currently in Taliban custody, and six of them have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from several months to several years.
