Ashraf Ghani, the Fugitive Former President: Afghanistan Needs National Consensus and Inclusive Dialogue.

Ashraf Ghani, the fugitive former President of Afghanistan, said today, Thursday, 20 November 2025, on social media platform X that the country is at a critical historical juncture and overcoming current crises requires “national consensus, redefining national interests, and inclusive dialogue.”

He emphasized that if the people demand it, he is ready to play a role in offering solutions and assisting Afghanistan in overcoming its current challenges.

Ghani noted that due to the absence of lasting peace, legitimacy crises, corruption, internal conflicts, and the collapse of governmental structures over the past four decades, Afghanistan now faces a choice: either to reform the current situation and exit the crisis wisely or to sink further into instability.

He added that forced return of migrants, recent earthquakes, and a military attack by Pakistan have further complicated the country’s situation.

Ghani, who fled Kabul on 24 Asad 1400 and has since been living in the United Arab Emirates, said that the Afghan people urgently need a fundamental dialogue on national interests and consensus-building.

He believes that such discussions can clarify the country’s path and facilitate overcoming the ongoing challenges.
