Awarding of the International Alisher Navai Award to Professor Aziz Sancar at the Budapest Summit

On the sidelines of the informal meeting of the Turkic States Organization held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, the International Alisher Navai Award was presented to Professor Aziz Sancar, a prominent scientist of Turkish origin and winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

The award, named after Alisher Navai, one of the pioneers of Turkic-speaking thought, literature and culture and one of the enduring figures of the Islamic-Turkic civilization, was given in recognition of Sancar’s exceptional scientific services in spreading knowledge and giving credibility to the scientific heritage of the Turkic world.

The award ceremony was held at the summit venue located in Varkert Bazaar after the speeches of the leaders of the member states. During the ceremony, Sadr Jabarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, presented the award to Professor Sancar on behalf of the Turkic States Organization.

At the moment of the award presentation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán were also present on stage and expressed their congratulations and celebrated Sancer’s valuable scientific achievements in the Turkic world.

After receiving the award, Professor Sancer gave a short speech, expressing his sincere gratitude for this recognition.
