Local sources say the Taliban have reduced 53 positions at Bamyan University, 34 of which are cadre (professor) positions.
According to the sources, most of the dismissed professors were Hazaras with master’s or doctorate degrees. An informed source told the media that these individuals were among the trained cadres of Bamyan University.
The source described the move as discriminatory and a sign of “systematic ethnic elimination,” and said that the positions of Pashtun professors remained unchanged.
Last year, the Taliban also removed or forced dozens of Hazara professors from Bamyan University. There are also reports that a similar process is underway at other universities in the country.
