Local sources in Badakhshan province have reported a border clash between Taliban forces and Tajik border guards.
The incident took place on Saturday, 25 October 2025, in the village of Dawang in the Shahr-e-Bozorg district of Badakhshan.
According to sources, the clash began when the two sides had a disagreement over changing the course of the Amu River.
This area is located near gold mining projects where Chinese companies are also active.
Local sources say that there were casualties in the clash, but the exact number has not yet been determined.
Tajik officials have not commented on the incident.
At the same time, reports indicate that Taliban officials have held a meeting with Ismail Ghaznavi, the group’s newly appointed governor for Badakhshan province.
The Taliban and Tajik border forces had previously clashed in Shahr-e-Bozorg district.
