Concerns over domestic violence rise; woman set on fire in Takhar

Local sources in northeastern Afghanistan have reported the discovery of a woman’s charred body in Warsaj district of Takhar province.

The incident occurred on Monday in the Tarsht area on the way to Kotal Faring.

According to local officials, the woman was killed as a result of family tensions and her body was transferred to the provincial capital, Taloqan, after being transferred to the district clinic.

The identity of the victim has not been determined yet.

The increase in such incidents has raised concerns among civil society organizations and social experts.

They believe that increasing poverty, lack of access to legal protection, and a restrictive social environment have contributed to the growth of domestic violence in the country.
