Continued arrests of women in Kabul; Taliban also raid women’s hair salons.
Local sources say that the Taliban, continuing their restrictive measures against women, arrested a number of women and girls in western Kabul on Saturday (July 20), especially in the areas of Qala Fathullah and Dasht-e-Barchi.
Although the exact number of those arrested is still unknown, eyewitnesses say that these arrests were carried out violently, without providing a specific reason and in the absence of female officers.
Meanwhile, sources from Dasht-e-Barchi reported that the Taliban had raided a women’s hair salon that was operating in secret. Several women were also arrested during the attack.
A resident of western Kabul said in an audio file sent to the media that the Taliban used force when arresting the women. He emphasized that there were no women or female officers among the Taliban forces.
According to sources, the wave of arrests began on Friday and the Taliban’s Amr-e-Maruf administration forces arrested young women from various locations such as 20 Meter Street, Barchi City Center, and Resalat Alley. Some of these arrests were made from inside luxury cars.
Reports indicate that the arrested women have been transferred to unknown locations, and the Taliban group has not yet provided an explanation for the motives or charges against these individuals.
This comes just two days ago, on July 16, when dozens of women were arrested in the Shahr-e-Naw district of Kabul. Sources said some of them were released the next day after their families provided written guarantees.
