Controversial Resignation of U.S. Counterterrorism Chief: “Trump Was Misled by Israel”.
Joe Kent, head of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center and a key figure close to Tulsi Gabbard, has resigned in protest against the Trump administration’s war-driven policies toward the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He is the first senior official in Trump’s administration to leave Washington with such sharp and unprecedented criticism. Kent emphasized that the Islamic Republic posed “no imminent threat” to the United States and that entering this war was the result of pressure from Israel and its powerful lobbying networks.
In his resignation letter, he accused Trump of deviating from the “America First” policy by disseminating misleading information and fueling war sentiments.
Kent wrote: “Israeli officials and mainstream U.S. media, through a broad disinformation campaign, misled you and pushed you into a war that has no real justification.”
Joe Kent, who has a background in U.S. Army Special Forces and the CIA, described the potential war as a repetition of the “catastrophic mistake of Iraq” and called promises of a “quick victory” a “complete illusion.”
He warned that repeating such an error could cost thousands of military lives and impose heavy human and financial burdens, urging an immediate reassessment of U.S. foreign policy.
