Critics: The Taliban Ministry of Virtue is a cover for suppressing other ethnic groups.

The Taliban have said that they have formed “cooperation committees” in the center and provinces to implement the Law on Encouraging Virtue and Forbidding Vice.

The group’s Ministry of Justice announced in a press release that the procedures for these committees are organized into 13 articles and an introduction and were signed by the Taliban leader.

According to these procedures, the committees are required to explain the Law on Virtue to officials in ministries, local departments, and provincial assemblies so that government employees act in accordance with the Taliban’s orders.

However, critics believe that the Taliban are actually using the Ministry of Virtue to carry out social repression, especially limiting women’s freedoms.

They say that the creation of these committees will lead to the expansion of restrictions and greater pressure on society, rather than improving the religious and moral situation.
