Deadly Ambush in the North; Taliban Security Official Killed in Takhar.
Mawlawi Mirajuddin, head of the office of the Taliban police command in Badakhshan Province, was reportedly killed in an armed incident in Takhar Province, according to local sources.
Media reports indicate that the attack occurred on the morning of Saturday, 14 March 2026, corresponding to 23 Hoot 1404 in the Afghan solar calendar.
Sources said that the vehicle carrying him came under gunfire from armed individuals while he was traveling toward Takhar Province.
After being struck by several bullets, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed — an incident that resulted in the death of the Taliban official.
The sources added that one of his accompanying bodyguards was also seriously wounded in the attack.
So far, local Taliban authorities have not commented on the incident.
This comes despite the group’s repeated emphasis on maintaining security in areas under its control, while anti-Taliban groups in northern Afghanistan are said to have created serious challenges for the movement and inflicted significant casualties on its forces.
