Former US President Donald Trump and Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, May 14.

Sources say that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also participated in the meeting online and gave a speech.

In the meeting, Erdogan called the lifting of US sanctions against Syria a “historic step” and emphasized that Ankara supports Syria while not posing a threat to others.

A day earlier, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump also met with the country’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and signed a deal worth $142 billion with him.

After Saudi Arabia, Trump traveled to Qatar and was given a special welcome by the Emir of Qatar.
