Eid and Nowruz arrive this year in Afghanistan while the people of this land have endured a year heavier than ever before.
Fear and anxiety caused by Pakistani aerial bombardments on one side, and strict restrictions and daily control of life by the ruling forces on the other, have made breathing more difficult and life more constrained.
This year as well, school doors remained closed to girls; the hopes of thousands remain confined, and their dreams have faded away.
Alongside all this, poverty and unemployment long-standing challenges have deepened further, leaving vulnerable families even more deprived. The renewed outbreak of war and insecurity has added another heavy burden on the population.
Despite all these hardships, the people of Afghanistan, with wounded yet steadfast hearts, still look toward a calmer future and a brighter tomorrow; hoping that the shadow of extremism will be removed from their homeland.
