Embezzlement of 6 Million Afghanis by Commander of Hairatan Battalion.
Informed sources say Damla Nabi Rahmani, commander of the Hairatan Battalion, recently embezzled a significant amount of fuel worth approximately six million Afghanis from Hairatan facilities.
According to these sources, Taliban security officials in Balkh arrested him after learning about the embezzlement, but he was soon released by order of Mullah Shoaib, the Taliban governor of Samangan, and is currently confined at home.
These allegations come amid multiple reports in recent months of corruption, theft, extortion, and abuse of official authority by Taliban officials. Citizens have expressed growing concerns over the spread of corruption across different levels of the Taliban structure. Due to the lack of accountability, independent media, and institutions to handle complaints, many major cases of financial corruption and public asset misappropriation remain hidden, with no effective investigation.
