Escape of a Taliban Commander’s Wife; Collapse of Performative Sharia and a Bitter Reaction to the Taliban’s Misogynistic Structure.
Local sources in Badghis Province report that the second wife of a Taliban commander has fled, an incident that once again exposes the true nature of the group’s rule.
According to sources, the second wife of “Hakimzai,” commander of the Second Battalion of Dah Bairanj in Qadis District, fled with another man just two months after her marriage.
This incident comes as the Taliban continue to rule society under the slogans of “morality, Sharia, and social order,” while in practice proving incapable of upholding even the most basic human principles within their own structure.
Verified information indicates that the Taliban commander had forcibly collected the costs of his second wedding ceremony from local residents and surrounding communities.
This act is considered a clear example of extortion, abuse of power, and humiliation of people living under Taliban rule.
Observers say such behavior is not an exception but part of a widespread pattern of moral corruption and mismanagement among local Taliban commanders, a pattern that directly targets people’s lives and social security.
Experts emphasize that this incident cannot be separated from the catastrophic situation of women in today’s Afghanistan, women who, as half of society, have been deprived of the right to education, work, choice of spouse, decision-making over their lives, and even a dignified human existence.
In their view, the woman’s escape is not a personal incident but a bitter reaction to a structure that has turned women into powerless tools in the hands of those in power, a structure whose continuation will accelerate social anger and the collapse of public trust in the Taliban.
