Forced displacement in Bamyan; Taliban confiscate people’s homes and land.

Local sources in Bamyan province have reported that the Taliban have forced residents of several villages in Punjab district to leave their homes and sign documents forcibly handing over their land.

Villages such as Rashak, Tobak, Gulli and Hoz Mahmud are among the areas where people have come under severe pressure from the Taliban. A number of families have left their homes due to the Taliban’s coercion and are now facing the risk of arrest and charges of creating division.

Local residents insist that their property, land and agricultural products have been handed over to the nomads and they are living in difficult conditions in tents and mountains.

A resident of Rashak village says: “The nomads, with the support of the Taliban, took all their property, assets, food and clothing out of their homes. We are still displaced in the mountains and tents, and the weather has turned cold.”

Earlier, local sources reported the forced displacement of 25 families in the villages of Rashak, Pushta, and Gharghari, an action that was taken on the orders of Abdullah Sarhadi, the Taliban governor in Bamyan.

This incident is an example of the intensification of the Taliban’s policy of forced displacement and land grabbing in Afghanistan.

People in the north of the country, from Badakhshan, Takhar, and Kunduz to Faryab and the central regions, face the Taliban’s oppression every day and witness similar pressures and threats.

This process not only threatens the security and livelihood of families, but also severely worsens the humanitarian and social situation in these areas and limits the horizon of safe return for the people.
