Former soldier killed in Khost; Targeted assassinations of former soldiers continue
Local sources in Khost province have reported that Gulwallin, a former soldier, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday on the Khost-Gardiz highway.
According to sources, the incident took place in Payndakhil village in the Ismailkhel Mandozi district and the attackers, who were two masked motorcyclists, fled the scene after carrying out the attack.
Gulwallin served as a border police officer in the previous regime and after the collapse of the government, he worked on a poultry farm with a monthly salary of 4,000 Afghanis to support his family. His relatives said that he had no enmity or personal problems with anyone.
This incident comes at a time when similar cases have increased in recent days. Just two days ago, another former soldier was severely beaten by unknown assailants for the fourth time in Paktika province.
Despite Taliban claims of a general amnesty, reports indicate continued violence and targeted attacks against former soldiers in various parts of the country.
