The Freedom of Expression Center has warned that dozens of Afghan journalists in Turkey are at risk of forced deportation and return to Afghanistan.
The organization said that 50 of these journalists sought refuge in Turkey after the fall of Kabul, but many of them are now in an uncertain legal status;
Including 10 who have failed to extend their stay and 20 others who have received official deportation notices.
According to the statement, some of these journalists have been living in uncertainty for years despite being officially recognized by international organizations as refugees in need of protection.
The Freedom of Expression Center has called for an immediate halt to the deportation process and for these journalists to be provided with safe accommodation in third countries.
