Fresh Clashes Between Taliban and Pakistani Border Guards in Bahramcha

Helmand – Local sources in Helmand province report that Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards have clashed again in the border area of Bahramcha district.

According to the sources, the clash began around noon today and resulted in the injury of a Taliban member and a civilian as a result of firing by Pakistani forces.

This is the second clash in less than a week in the area. Earlier, on Thursday, the Taliban and Pakistani border guards clashed in the same area. That clash occurred when the Taliban were transporting containers to a newly established checkpoint.

Despite the start of talks after last week’s clash, the sources say the talks between the two sides have ended without any results.

The clashes come as Kabul and Islamabad recently agreed to upgrade diplomatic ties to the level of an ambassadorial exchange—a move that was supposed to signal improved relations between the two countries.
