G7+ and EU: Afghanistan’s future depends on pluralism and inclusive governance.
In London, representatives of the G7+ member states and the European Union met to discuss the future of Afghanistan.
They focused on the UN’s “Comprehensive Approach” process and stressed the importance of the institution’s coherence in dealing with the crises in Afghanistan.
The final statement of the meeting stated that the new UN Secretary-General and Special Representative should play a key role in shaping a unified policy.
Effective coordination between the different parts of the UN, in their view, is a prerequisite for the success of this process.
In conclusion, the members of this group once again recalled that Afghanistan needs a new turning point to overcome the current crises;
And this turning point will be nothing other than the formation of an inclusive government, based on the participation of all political and social forces and based on true pluralism.
