General Saree, Second Anti-Taliban Military Figure, Killed in Iran.

Informed sources in Iran report that General Ekramuddin Saree, the former police chief of Takhar province, was killed in Tehran on Wednesday evening, 24 December 2025.

According to the sources, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tehran time in the Imam Hussein area, where General Saree was shot dead with a handgun. They said he had moved to Iran after the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban and had been actively involved in pursuing the rights and legal claims of former Afghan security personnel.

General Saree previously served in several senior security positions under the former Afghan government, including as police chief of Baghlan and Takhar provinces. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing so far. This incident marks the second killing of an anti-Taliban military figure in Iran, following the earlier assassination of Marouf Gholami in Mashhad.
